Now it's starting to get really dark these friday afternoons. Rembember to put on your helmet and put on spiked tires on your bike before you ride the slippery slope down polacksbacken. But before you go home, read through this weeks summary of my work as Head of academic affairs.

Promotions at the faculty
Promotion and employment issues will from the beginning of next year be handled by the same committee at the faculty of Science and technology. As a student representetive in this group I and Isolde Snellman, head of labour market affairs will sit. Do you have any ideas about how new employment issues should be handled your welcome to talk to me =)

Premeeting before the faculty board meeting
In two weeks the faculty board has the last meeting this year. Some of the matters that will be discussed is the buisness plan for 2012 and the work with studentservice . The studentservice organization will reorganize, if you have any ideas what you want to get out of a studentserviceorganization your welcome to talk to me.

What do you want from a studentorganization? Are you happy with the studentservice today?

This weeks paragraph of Higher Education Ordinance
chapter 4 Section 3
A person who has demonstrated both research and teaching expertise shall be qualified for employment as a professor except in disciplines in the fine, applied or performing arts. A person who has demonstrated both artistic and teaching expertise shall be qualified for employment as a professor in disciplines in the fine, applied or performing arts. 

The assessment criteria for appointment as a professor shall be the degree of the expertise required as a qualification for employment. As much attention shall be given to the assessment of teaching expertise as to the assessment of research or artistic expertise. Ordinance (2010:1064).
