Welcome to the Swedish fall with strange weather and the period of written exams. I am sure you will all succeed with your written exams and at the same time enjoy the colours of the fall. Here is a short review of the work we do to improve your education at the faculty.

TUR  The council of university pedagogic at the faculty of science and technology
This wednesday the pedagogical leaders of the faculty got togheter to discuss how the education at the faculty should develop. Hopefully the theachers also listened to us students at the seminar.

Swedish National Agency for Higher Education studentunion day
This thursday the Swedish National Agency for Higer Education had a student union day for all the student unions in Sweden to among other subjects discuss the consequences of internationalization and student rights. The agency pointed out that the are glad to help us with student rights if we wanted it, nice to know that we have their support.

Pedagogical career
Uppsala University is about to decide about a new appointments procedure, that is guidelines for how people are employed by the university. This has started a  positive discussion about introducing a pedagogical career step for excellent teachers at university level. This has been discussed before and hopefully there will be some excellent teachers already next year.

Next week:

Faculty board
The faculty board with Ulf Danielsson as president has a meeting next thuesday and wedensday. Among other things UTN will apply for money for our work and the problem with student space at the campus and number of microwaveovens will be discussed. Hopefully wise decisions will be made.

The paragraph of the week from the Higher Education Ordinance
chapter 10 section 1
Disciplinary measures may be invoked against students who:

  1. use prohibited aids or other methods to attempt to deceive during examinations or other forms of assessment of study performance
  2. disrupt or obstruct teaching, tests or other activities within the framework of courses and study programmes at the higher education institution
  3. disrupt activities in the library of the higher education institution or other separate establishments at the institution
  4. subject another student or member of the staff of the higher education institution to harassment or sexual harassment of the kind laid down in Section 4 of Chapter 1 of the Discrimination Act (2008:567).

Disciplinary measures may not be invoked more than two years after the offence has been committed. Ordinance (2008:944).
