24 February, 2015

The Faculty Board, the SciTech Faculty higest decision-making body, met for the semester's first meeting on February 10. The agenda included an item on defining a new treatment plan for students. Equal treatment plan is based on one of the principal established university-wide ”Action Plan for Equal Treatment of Students 2014 (UFV 2014/453” (only in swedish) which in turn is rooted in discrimination law and university programs for equal opportunities.
The equal treatment plan for students are to be updated and evaluated every year and therefore it is easier to focus on different areas of the grounds for discrimination from year to year. The focus for 2015 will be on gender and disabilitys.
Come of the points thats identified in the plan comes from a questionnaire UTN conducted during the spring semester of 2014. Among other things, the faculty will analyze the questionnaire to obtain data for future equal treatment plans focusareas and action! Even one of the year's focus areas, gender, have been identified from the questionnaire, which showed that 19.5% of respondents sometime had felt discriminated because of gender.
