During this autumn semester most things concerning the expansion of the Ångström Laboratory have been put on ice. This is because the rental agreement between Uppsala University and Akademiska hus have expired and a new agreement is currently being negotiated. The new rental agreement will also affect the rent for Ångström stage 4 and the faculty want to await the agreement before deciding to continue with the project.
The decision to continue will mean that the sizes and total numbers of different rooms in the new buildings are set but that their placement and contents are yet to be decided on.
The new rental agreement with Akademiska hus have been negotiated during this autumn and the faculty recently brought in a external company to estimate the value of the new buildings according to merket prices. With this estimation the company then compared their rental suggestion to that of Akademiska hus. This was done because the faculty were concerned that the new rent for Ångström stage 4 would become too expensive.
Now the expectation is that the faculty will be able to make the decision of the continuation of the project in February 2015, but this is only possible if the negotiation is finished.
