Uppsala Student Union renounce their status of the faculty for engineering and science

The Uppsala Student Unions council has today decided to approve the motion regarding the renunciation of formal status as union over the faculty for engineering and science. This means that Uppsala Union of Engineering and Science Students' will apply for the status from the 1st January 2014 and onwards.

Last evening the Uppsala Student Unions council resumed their meeting after a nights rest. On the agenda for the day was the motion if they were to renounce their claim over the faculty for engineering and science. Which they did with 20 votes for and 16 against! The motion came from Uppsala University Students' (UUS) who in the yearly Union elections promised to renounce the formal status.

With the motion passed, the Uppsala Student Union will no longer have the status as a union over the faculty after the 1st of January 2014. The next step is for UTN's council to apply for formal status as a student union over the faculty, which will be discussed next Monday.
