Uppsala Union of Engineering and Science Students pedagogical award is awarded annually to a person who works at the Faculty of Science and Technology at Uppsala University and the prize winner must have demonstrated both teaching skills and a major commitment to the students.
Liselott Karlsson, President of Uppsala Union of Engineering and Science Students said:
-UTN's pedagogical award is a strong evidence of the students' appreciation to one of the University's employees. The prize symbolizes what we work for, that students have the possibility to affect their education and to highlight good examples of such persons.
The jury's citation reads:The UTN's pedagogical prize winner vigorously works to improve his courses and make them as good as possible. By using pedagogical and smart pre-recorded films and animations students are able to go through the lectures in advance enabling discussions and a deeper understanding during classroom time. His aim is beyond traditional teaching and there is a large focus on continuous feedback and course improvement. For these reasons he is awarded with the pedagogical prize. Never before has it been so fun to go the lectures!
Sofia Hedberg, Head of Academic Affairs at Uppsala Union of Engineering and Science Students, also the Chairman of the jury said:
- The jury had many good nominations but chose to reward David for his work with alternative teaching methods. David is a person who works with constant feedback and on this basis change his teaching during the course.
