Hello!
First I want to thank all the presidents of the student councils that participated in the Education Committee last week. Very good! Next committee meeting (15/10) will focus on evaluations. People from both the faculty and at the university will visit our meeting and I look forward to good discussions. So members of committe, check your inbox for invation!
TUN and NUN
The technical education committee (TUN) and the science education committee (NUN) have had meetings this week. During the meeting we talked about money reductions at the faculty. The number of students at the faculty must be reduced. How you shold do that is a complex issue that is not easy to solve. There will probably not be any reduction of the number of students at the program courses. This means that the varied courses at both institutions and at for example CEMUS will have to reduce the number of students. Decisions are made on the Faculty later in October.
The Education Committee meetings have also discussed the student services project and how it affects the staff on the faculty. Maybe you have seen the rebuilding of the library at Ångströms? A new student service disk will be open there in about a month.
Seminar on Mobility
Last Wednesday, me and Maria, the head of international affairs went to at seminar on the subject mobility in higher education. Together with 200 people from universities around Sweden we listened to lectures of for example the international student's perception of their studies in Sweden. Did you know that Sweden is worst in Europe in terms of the ability to connect with local students?
Next week:
Internat with TUR
Next week it's time for a two-day meeting with the Faculty of Science and Technology's pedagogic committee (TUR). Me and Tove, head of labour market affairs will hold a discussion session on the theme ”the university and students”. We will also talk about the students 'responsibility for their fellow students' learning.
Someone else who will disscuss pedagogy next week is our head of international affairs, Maria. She has been fortunate enough to travel to Denmark and discuss teaching qualifications with student representatives from the whole Nordic region. Very fun!
Have a nice weekend, best whishes from
