Student union vote

Uppsala Student Union and Uppsala Union of Engineering and Science Students has agreed to conduct a vote among the students at the SciTech faculty about which organisation will be the formal student union for the SciTech students and thus represent the students against the University. The vote will be held before the end of November 2012.

At the beginning of next year Uppsala university will decide which organizations should be granted status as a student union. The decision will be based on representativeness, which the university has interpreted as the number of members. This has in previous years created an unforunate situation, where both UTN and Uppsala Student Union must compete against each other, which neither benefits the students, organizations, or university.

During the spring semester we have had discussions with Uppsala Student Union and we have agreed that the best and fairest way is to let the students themselves get to vote on which organization should represent them. During the spring term, the conditions for the poll will be determined, stay tuned for more information!
