ABB is a technology company and has given out this award since 2007. The criteria for the prize is that you are a technically-minded and committed full-time engineeringstudent with a desire to influence.
ABB's reason of choosing Martin is because of his interest of smart ways of using energy and his will to change both his own and other students' education to the better. The interest of education is particularly clear since Martin earlier has had the position as Head of Academic Affairs at Uppsala Union of Engineering and Science Students. ABB also thinks that Martin has a humble attitude and is engaged in his advocacy for a better education and a more sustainable energy future.
- Very funny! said Martin Västermark, who will visit one of ABB's facilities in China this summer.
This is not the first time an Uppsala Engineering student receives the prize. Jonathan Styrud, who studied at the Master Programme in Engineering Physics at Uppsala University, won the prize in 2010.
