Summary of the Council meeting 7th November 2011

On the eve of Monday November 7th the Uppsala Union of Engineering and Science Students council held its third meeting for the semester. The agenda was short but contained a few important topics, among them the election of a new inspector.

The council have had a longstanding problem with getting its meeting records confirmed. Prior to the meeting the speaker had recieved a number of unconfirmed records of earlier meetings and wanted the council's opinion on how to proceed with them. It was decided that the records should be postponed until next time so that everyone would get time to read them.

After the messages from the office and The Anniversary Committee, which wants suggestions for the celebration of UTN's ten year anniversary in February, a question to the board regarding pub-crawls was answered. The questioner wanted the board's opinion on what the sections call events where you visit some or all of the pubs of Uppsala's student nations. The board's answer was that they do not have an opinion but encourage the sections to consider how they market them since much of the sections actions will be attributed to UTN in the end.

Then it was time for propositions from the board. The first one suggested that a list of decitions taken by the council should be made and maintained in order to simplify the follow-up, which was accepted. The second proposition was the nomination of the next Inspector of UTN and suggested Åsa Kassman Rudolphi of the Department of Engineering Sciences. After a short questioning and discussion Åsa was elected.

After the fika break a motion suggesting that the speaker's presiding committee should be responsible for the council's teambuildings in the future was brought up and accepted. Then the Election Committee's election of Sagar Sidhara as Deputy Editor in Chief of the unions magazine Techna was ratified by the council. The Election Committee also got two new members on section-tied mandates. The final topic of the evening was a discussion if and how to implement more refined selection criteria for various officers within UTN to aid the Election Committee in their work.
